Shashtiabdhapurthi invitation wording

Shashtiabdhapurthi (also spelt Sashtiapthapoorthi or Shashtipoorthi) is held when the husband completes 60 years, usually on his birth star in the Tamil month he was born. The couple go through the wedding rituals again with homams, kalasa abhishekam and a fresh thali. Many families do it at the Amirthakadeswarar–Abirami temple in Thirukadaiyur; others book a hall in their home town.

The card normally comes from the children and grandchildren. Start with the invocation, give the date and muhurtham, and write the couple respectfully (திரு. … – திருமதி. … அம்மாள்). The homams often begin before dawn, so a Shashtiabdhapurthi invitation should say when the main muhurtham starts.

Close by asking guests to come and take the couple’s blessings: ‘ஆசி பெறுமாறு அன்புடன் அழைக்கின்றோம்’.

What is Shashtiabdhapurthi?

It marks the husband completing 60 years. The couple’s marriage is solemnised again with homams and abhishekam, which is why it is also called அறுபதாம் கல்யாணம் or 60th Kalyanam.

Can I make the invitation in English?

Can I use it for Sathabhishekam (80th)?
