How to word a housewarming invitation

A Tamil புதுமனை புகுவிழா card opens with ‘உ’ or ‘ஸ்ரீ கணபதி துணை’ and gives the Tamil date, English date, day and muhurtham. Griha pravesam muhurthams are often very early, sometimes before 6 AM, so write the time clearly with ‘காலை’ in front of it.

Mention the Ganapathi homam time, and the paal kaaichuthal (boiling milk in the new kitchen) if you want guests there for it. Write the full address with street and landmark, and add a Google Maps QR code; a house in a new layout often isn’t on anyone’s map yet.

Close with the family names under ‘இப்படிக்கு’ and a line about breakfast or lunch. For an English housewarming invitation to friends and colleagues, ‘Lunch to follow’ is enough.

Open the Map QR tab and paste the Google Maps link of the new house. If the street isn’t on Maps yet, drop a pin at the gate and share that link.

Is Griha Pravesam the same as housewarming?

Yes. Griha Pravesam is the traditional Hindu housewarming; in Tamil it is புதுமனை புகுவிழா or கிரகப்பிரவேசம்.

Can I print it?
