Sathabishekam (80th Birthday) Invitation Templates

Make a Sathabishekam invitation for your parents’ 80th year, the ‘aayiram pirai kanda’ (thousand moons) celebration. Tamil templates use the classic சதாபிஷேக விழா wording, and English versions are ready for relatives abroad.

Sathabishekam invitation wording

Sathabishekam (also spelt Sathabhishekam) is done when a man is about 80 years and 8 months old, by which time he has seen a thousand full moons. That is why Tamil cards often call it ‘ஆயிரம் பிறை கண்ட விழா’. As with the 60th Kalyanam, the wedding rituals are repeated with homams and kalasa abhishekam, and Thirukadaiyur is again the temple most families choose.

A Sathabishekam invitation usually comes from the children and grandchildren, and sometimes great-grandchildren too. Begin with the invocation, give the date and muhurtham, and write the couple’s names with respect.

End with the line asking guests to receive the couple’s blessings: ‘ஆசி பெறுமாறு அன்புடன் அழைக்கின்றோம்’. Relatives travel from far for this one, so a map QR code for the temple or hall is worth adding.

Sathabishekam Invitation – FAQ

What is Sathabishekam?

It is the 80th-year celebration, held once a person has seen 1000 full moons (roughly 80 years and 8 months). The couple’s marriage rituals are performed again with homams, and the family seeks their blessings.

Can I use these for Bheemaratha Shanthi (70th)?

Change the heading and the years line and the rest of the wording works for a 70th as well.
