50 templates →Marriage invitation wording in Tamil and English
Relatives read the wording far more closely than the design, and the elders will notice a wrong lagnam or a missing initial. A Tamil kalyana pathirikai opens with an invocation such as ‘உ’ or the family deity, gives the muhurtham with the Tamil year, month and lagnam, introduces the groom as திருநிறைச்செல்வன் and the bride as திருநிறைச்செல்வி, and ends with the parents’ invitation under ‘இப்படிக்கு’. The Tamil templates here already follow this order, so you only replace the names, dates and mandapam. A typical muhurtham paragraph looks like this:
English invitations are simpler. Say who is hosting (“Together with their families”, or the parents’ names), then the couple’s names, the request line, the date in full, the time and the venue. One short note at the end, such as “Lunch to follow”, is usually enough.
If you are earlier in the process and still matching horoscopes, our free Thirumana Porutham calculator checks the ten poruthams, and the marriage biodata maker puts the horoscope details and family information on one page to share with the other side.
Frequently asked questions
Is the marriage invitation maker really free?
Yes. Every template is free to edit and download as a PDF, and you don’t need to sign up. There is no watermark across the design, only a small ‘Made free at myjathagam.com’ credit along the bottom edge.
What size is the downloaded invitation?
A 5 × 7 inch portrait PDF at 300 DPI (1500 × 2100 pixels). Printers can put it straight onto card stock, and the same file is sharp enough to forward on WhatsApp.
Can I write my invitation in Tamil?
All text fields take Tamil Unicode, with fonts such as Noto Serif Tamil, Arima, Tiro Tamil, Hind Madurai and Kavivanar. Plenty of families mix the two, with Tamil wording and the couple’s names and degrees in English.
Can I move the text and change fonts and colours?
Drag any line on the card to move it, and use the arrow keys for small nudges. Font, size, colour, alignment and letter spacing can be changed per line, and the Colours tab recolours the background and ornaments of the whole design.
Can I add a Google Maps location QR code to the invitation?
Open the Map QR tab in the editor and paste your venue’s Google Maps link (Share → Copy link). It becomes a QR code on the card that you can drag, resize and recolour. Guests scan it from the printed card or the PDF and get directions to the mandapam, which saves a lot of ‘where exactly is the hall?’ phone calls.
Is my information saved? Is it private?
Your edits are saved automatically in your own browser (local storage), so you can close the tab and continue later on the same device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
