Kaathu Kuthu (Ear Piercing) Invitation Templates

Make a kaathu kuthu invitation for your child’s காது குத்து விழா at the family deity temple. Tamil templates include the குலதெய்வ வழிபாடு and தாய்மாமன் lines, and the English versions call it karnavedham.

Kaathu Kuthu invitation wording

Kaathu kuthu (karnavedham) is usually done in an odd year of the child’s age: the first, third or fifth. Most families go to their kuladeivam temple for it, and the first மொட்டை (tonsure) is often done the same morning.

The child sits on the தாய்மாமன்’s lap while the ears are pierced, and he usually brings the first pair of gold studs. That is why his name goes on the kaathu kuthu invitation, along with the child, the temple, the date and the time.

Kuladeivam temples are often in the native village, a long drive from town. Mention the feast after the ceremony and add a map QR code so relatives can plan the trip.

Ear Piercing Ceremony Invitation – FAQ

Can I add the temple location?

Paste the temple’s Google Maps link in the Map QR tab and the card gets a QR code guests can scan for directions. Very handy when the temple is in a village.

Can I include the mottai (tonsure) ceremony?

The Tamil wording already says காது குத்து மற்றும் மொட்டை அடிக்கும் விழா. Remove the mottai part if you are not doing it.

Is it free?
